Afternic Pricing and Fees

Afternic Commission Structure as of Sept 4, 2024:

Default Afternic Commission Rates (Afternic Boost):

  • Standard rate: 30% (25% +5% Default Boost Benefit)
  • Discounted rate: Domains with primary nameservers pointed to GoDaddy Aftermarket Nameservers at the time of the initial purchase hold and sale receive a discounted rate of 20% (15% + 5% Default Boost Benefit)

Customers can opt to downgrade from Afternic Boost to Afternic Basic, which will:

  • Decrease commission rates by 5% with no Afternic Boost
    • Standard rate for Afternic Basic: 25%
    • Discounted rate for Afternic Basic: Domains with primary nameservers pointed to GoDaddy Aftermarket Nameservers at the time of the initial purchase hold and sale receive a discounted rate of 15%
  • Reduce domain distribution exposure

All sales have a minimum $15 commission.

As a matter of clarity, nameservers ending in one of the following domains are considered GoDaddy Aftermarket Nameservers:

  • afternic.com
  • smartname.com
  • uniregistrymarket.link
  • dan.com
  • undeveloped.com
  • internettraffic.com
  • cashparking.com

Examples with Afternic Boost (Default):

  • A domain sold for $1,000 with GoDaddy Aftermarket Nameservers: Commission = $200 (20% of $1,000)
  • A domain sold for $1,000 with non- GoDaddy Aftermarket Nameservers: Commission = $300 (30% of $1,000)

Examples After Downgrade:

  • A domain sold for $1,000 with GoDaddy Aftermarket Nameservers: Commission = $150 (15% of $1,000)
  • A domain sold for $1,000 with non- GoDaddy Aftermarket Nameservers: Commission = $250 (25% of $1,000)

For Lease to Own Domain Sales the commission rates above are subject to commission discounts based on the length of the LTO Term. The commission discounts are as follows:

  • 0 to 12 months: 0% commission discount
  • 13 to 24 months: 5% commission discount
  • 25 to 36 months: 10% commission discount
  • 37 to 60 months: 15% commission discount

Example of Domain Name Sold through LTO

  • If a domain name is sold through LTO and the term selected by the buyer is 36 months, the default standard commission rate of 30% would be discounted to 20% for the Lease to Own transaction.

Custom Checkout Link

Custom Checkout Link Commission Rules as of Oct 25, 2023:

For Custom Checkout Link Sales the commission rate will be 5% for any Buy Now transaction through a Custom Checkout Link, with a minimum commission fee of $15.00 and 10% for any Lease to Own transaction through a Custom Checkout Link. Your nameservers will not impact the commission rate that will apply. A Custom Checkout Link can only be created for Buy Now transactions with a value of at least $99.00. For Lease to Own Custom Checkout Link transactions, LTO Total price should be set between $495 and $100,000, and the maximum period will be 12 months.
